4D MEDIA COFA runs a class in Animation in Film and Multi Media Computing. This is part of a three year BFA undergraduate course.
The Animation class trains students in traditional animation skills and how to apply these to multi media computing. For instance the development of a keen sense of timing and weight in movement are stressed to enhance the skill of 3D computer animators. The workshops devote time to pixilated animation of the body as a starting point to develop a personal awareness of movement and timing.
Other areas covered by the class are Landscape sculptural animation, continuous draw techniques, life sized collage, Macro media director animation and interactive scripting, model building, 3D computer animation, plus others computer techniques. Extermination is stressed as the development of a personal style and technique.
Most methods are then applied to Multi media as an output medium. (although film and video post production techniques are covered briefly in the class they are dealt with in more detail in other classes in the course) From the end of 1995 the classes work is to put onto an on-going interactive model.
The model will be accessed on the WWW COFA home page (http://www.hepworth.cfa.unsw.edu.au)

The National Filmschool of Denmark has chosen to aim at the education of animation film directors because we have noted an expanding production of animation films. The European market has a possibility to get hold of a larger part of this global expansion. Improved narration technique and far-seeing producers who are able to set new standards for international cooperation are the keys to the future.
